We are a church who places a high value on being an inter-generational community of faith. We love kids! Our seniors love being “grandparents” to our little ones and you will find them holding babies, playing on the floor with children, laughing and dancing, doing projects and teaching children in all of our children’s programs. Our teens, young adults and parents are involved as well. We are all aware of the urgent need to pass a solid firm foundation of faith in Jesus Christ to the next generation. We feel the best way to do that is to surround children with a loving faith community where they not only learn biblical knowledge, but where they get to experience God’s love and find a place where they can be fully accepted.
Children’s Sunday School: 9:30 am – 10:30 am
All children ages 4 years of age – 6th grade are welcome. Meet in Children’s classrooms downstairs from the 2nd week of September through the 3rd week of May.
Pre-school – 3rd grade teachers: Jeanie Hutton & Bobbi Wegener
The curriculum used is: “Living the Good News”. It is highly interactive and fun and engages the children in learning through music, crafts, drama, and games. Based on the common lectionary (Biblical readings assigned for each Sunday from the Old Testament, the Psalms, the New Testament, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ), the children not only learn about the Bible stories, but also the major themes of the Bible and how these themes integrate with the seasons and holy days of the church year. An emphasis is placed on helping children to apply the readings of scripture to their own lives and encouraging them to choose to follow Christ’s teachings.
4th – 6th grade teachers – John Gibbons & Dan Stillwell
Our curriculum also offers many ideas on how we can help our children learn to give of themselves to others. We encourage giving and doing projects for those in our community, nation, and the world. We begin by helping our little ones learn about what it is like to be handicapped, or from another country, or “different in some way” than others. As the children grow, we broaden their view to get them thinking about injustice, the poor, and ways that they might demonstrate God’s love to others.
Nursery: 8:15 am – 12:15 pm
Nursery Staff – Karen Fancher, Debby Ryerson, & Angela Martinez
Infants through 4 years of age. Our nursery director, Ms. Karen, is certified by the State of Colorado and we keep our nursery staffed with several additional volunteers so that the needs of our little ones can be quickly addressed. Your child’s safety is a top priority. An age appropriate program of Bible stories, games, music and crafts is included.
Children’s Fellowship: During the 10:45 am worship service
Children (5th grade and under) are dismissed for a short teaching on the Bible readings for that morning along with a snack and activity. The children return to the service in time for communion.
Vacation Bible School
Our VBS is a week long program held every summer for children in the church and our neighborhood to grow in their knowledge of God, to experience Christian community and to have a ton of fun.
We love using the Bible time theme curriculum which help the children get a better understanding of what life was like in a particular time period in the Bible.
Adults of all ages and teens are welcome to join the fun and help.
